Handicaps

There is a lot of math in determining your handicap. I think you can handle it.

Golf Handicap Calculation - Step 1

The first step is creating the round differential. This is done by using just a few factors. We use the following factors in determining the round differential.

The Round Score

Course Rating: (Swamp golf's is 70)

Slope Rating: (A course of average difficulty is 113, so I would say that Swamp Golf is pretty average difficulty, wouldn't you? Let's just say Swamp Golf's Slope rating is 113. If you think differently then say so and we can collectively figure out the Slope rating of the course.

This is the actual formula used to create each score differential.

(Your Score – Course Rating) X 113 / Slope Rating = Score Differential

Example:

Score = 85
Course Rating = 72
Slope Rating = 123

The actual calculation would now look like this:

(85 – 72) X 113 / 123 = 11.94

Golf Handicap Calculation - Step 2

The next step is to determine how many round differentials will be used in the golf handicap calculation. The minimum number of rounds is 5 and the maximum number is 20. This means you must have at lest 5 rounds of golf played to determine your handicap. When you reach over 20 rounds of golf played, then you will drop the oldest round each time you add a new round. Your golf handicap is determined by using your best 10 rounds of the last 20 rounds of golf you have played. There is a chart that will show you how many round scores are used to do the golf handicap calculation. You will always use your lowest scores when selecting which rounds are used.

Golf Handicap Calculation - Step 3

The last step will produce your golf handicap. In our example we will use the number of rounds played as the maximum of 20. With 20 rounds played you will use your 10 best scores. First you will total your 10 best score differentials created in step 1. Total the 10 best differentials and then divide by the number of rounds, 10. The last part of the calculation is to take the last calculation and multiply this number by .96 (96%) and keep 2 decimals with no rounding. This is your golf handicap.

Table Used to Determine the Number of Rounds to Use :

Rounds................Rounds To Use

5-6.......................1 Lowest
7-8.......................2 Lowest
9-10.....................3 Lowest
11-12...................4 Lowest
13-14...................5 Lowest
15-16...................6 Lowest
17........................7 Lowest
18........................8 Lowest
19........................9 Lowest
20......................10 Lowest

I got all of this crap from http://www.cincigolf.com/ngn3.htm

Now you can do all of this... or you can just go to this web site and they will do it for you. http://www.csgnetwork.com/golfhcapcalc.html

So basically, until you have recorded your last 5 games, you can't determine handicap.

hole names and top scores

I posted the hole names on the right. I am sure I missed some. Once I make everyone authors they can just change it themselves. But for now, what have I missed. And also should I say who each hole was named by? Also I put peoples names up so you can put your top score up there yourself or tell me and i will do it. If I forgot your name put it up there with your best score.

This is SWAMP GOLF

I have created the swamp golf blog. The purpose of this blog is to post scores, stories, hole naming ceremonies, swamp golf images, swamp golf videos, swamp golf audio clippings, and so on, as well as to keep track of monthly record holders, handicaps, and tournaments. I invite everyone who has ever played Swamp Golf to join in being an author of this blog.
